The Idea Behind Fizz and Foam

“How did you start Fizz and Foam?”

This entire year I have been asked two questions more times than I can count: “How did you start Fizz and Foam?” and “Where did you come up with the idea?”. So, I decided to take the time while I have it and write it all down to post and share when needed.

When Jonathan and I first got engaged in February I scoured the internet, mostly Instagram, looking at all the cute, unique, and trendy wedding ideas that we could use in our wedding. During my planning, I found mobile bars and little tap carts all over Instagram. These were the cutest and most unique ways to serve drinks and I fell in love. Most of the accounts I found on Instagram were based in the West Coast area, so nowhere near us. The closest mobile bars to Tallahassee that I could find were in Atlanta and Miami. We would end up paying more in travel fees than the alcohol itself just to get them to Tallahassee.

I brought the idea to Jonathan. I wanted to make a mobile bar. I had no idea how or with what, but I told him that I thought it could do well in Tallahassee and that I knew of past brides who probably would have loved to have a mobile bar as an option for their weddings. So he started to look at options for me while I did some legal and liquor law research. He looked on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and anywhere he could for some type of vehicle that would make a cute mobile bar. We could not anything that would work or be worth the price. Everything was ugly, rusted, and broken down, with a price tag of $5,000. We eventually got discouraged and just shelved the idea because $5,000 for something that didn't look cute and didn't run, was just not worth it to us.

Some quick and relevant background information: When we first got engaged we were thinking of having a wedding in the North Georgia area. While looking at North Georgia vendors, I followed the CUTEST photo booth on Instagram called Little Gypsy Camera Camper (if you're thinking of having a wedding in North Georgia, please book them and invite me so I can see them). Of course, that wedding plan didn't work out for us, but I kept following Little Gypsy because I just really loved their aesthetic and wanted to keep that concept in mind for whatever future wedding we did plan.

A month or two passed and neither of us had thought about the mobile bar business idea in quite some time. One day, while I was bored and waiting in the doctor’s office to be called back for an appointment, I went through all of the Instagram stories that I had posted and stumbled upon Little Gypsy Camera Camper’s story. They were selling our little truckster for a price that was way too good to pass up. Their story had said “first come first serve” and I viewed it over seven hours after they had posted it. I messaged them thinking there was no way it was still available, and they messaged back telling me it was! The owner let me Venmo her a deposit to hold it until we could come to get it, and then two days later we drove almost eight hours to get it and then brought it back to Tallahassee. The trip back is honestly an entire story on its own, but we eventually made it home with our new adorable little truckster. We began working on it almost immediately, and then we had Fizz and Foam ready to launch three months later! Oh and cute fun fact: Fizz and Foam was almost named Rogue Cow Mobile Bar.

We also teach mobile bar education courses, you can see our full offerings here, and if you are DIYing it like us, we put together a Mobile Bart Starter Kit for all the things we purchased and still use to this day for Fizz and Foam! You can find that starter kit here.
